Electronic 3D Fairy Tale Books for Visually Impaired Children

Typically, the fairy tale books we normally encounter are composed of visual images and texts. However, it is challenging for visually impaired children to read and understand the full story of the book.
To solve this problem, we propose a 3D electronic fairy tale book. This new form of a fairy tale book transforms the existing illustrations into a 3D models, providing tangible, 3D images so that the visual impaired can ‘feel’ the book.
In addition, it helps visually impaired children read the text of the book by both braille and voice guidance at the same time. They can read the text themselves through braille, and the voice guidance helps them understand the narrating the contents of the book.
우리가 흔히 접하는 동화책은 시각적 이미지와 텍스트로 구성되어 있습니다. 그러나 시각 장애가 있는 어린이들은 책의 전체 이야기를 읽고 이해하는 데 어려움을 겪습니다. 이 문제를 해결하기 위해, 우리는 3D 전자 동화책을 제안합니다. 이 새로운 형태의 동화책은 기존의 일러스트레이션들을 3D 모델로 변환하여, 시각 장애인이 책을 '느낄' 수 있도록 만질 수 있는 3D 이미지를 제공합니다. 또한, 이 책은 점자와 음성 안내를 동시에 사용하여 시각 장애 어린이들이 책의 텍스트를 읽을 수 있게 도와줍니다. 그들은 점자를 통해 텍스트를 직접 읽을 수 있으며, 음성 안내는 책의 내용을 이해하는 데 도움을 줍니다.

Each book card contains a fairy tale. When the book card is inserted into the device, a fairy tale are shown in 3D pads, braille, and sound.

The numerous protrusions beneath the fabric represent the illustrations of the fairy tale book in 3D.

The three buttons each have the functions of 'Previous Chapter', 'Bookmark', and 'Next Chapter'. We have designed them with large shapes, strong contrasting colors, and distinct tactile differences for each button to enable easy operation by the user.

Underneath the device, there is a protrusion that detects the degree of charge, so you can easily feel the state of charge as a tactile sensation. If all three sections are protruding, it indicates that the device is fully charged. 
기기 아래에는 충전 정도를 감지하는 돌기가 있어, 이를 통해 손쉽게 충전 상태를 촉각으로 느낄 수 있습니다. 3칸이 모두 튀어나오면 완충 상태입니다.
